Abstract
Museums are institutions with diverse responsibilities. Beyond the collection, preservation and conservation of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of humankind, their main role is to share collections, objects, resources and databases for the service of society and its development (ICOM, 2007). In this project, the main focus is the educational role of museums, notably their importance in supporting formal education in schools. We propose in this document a learning approach for Grade 5 students in Lebanon that bridges their curriculum and the objects at a museum, in this case, the Ethnographic Museum of Balamand, by means of a project-based learning experience. This approach focuses on the collaboration of teachers and professionals from different disciplines on the grounds of a museum, collaborating on the personalization of knowledge and growing outside the curricular barriers to give their students a pluri-cultural dimension to the subjects they teach in the classroom.
